Scorpion BarCode is a complete Bar Code creation utility that you can use to quickly create Bar Code images for use in other applications. The software supports the following symbologies:

By entering the text of a Bar Code, the software produces the graphic equivalent using one of the above selected symbologies. You can then use this graphic to:
• Create a PICT file
• Create an Adobe Illustrator™ compatible EPS file
• Produce a desktop clipping file by dragging the graphic image to the desktop
• Paste into another application simply via the Clipboard
• Drag and drop the graphic directly into another application
• Print camera ready artwork automatically
• Convert text in other applications into BarCode graphics using AppleScript
The text equivalent of the Bar Code can be entered using:
• Keyboard entry via the standard input screen
• A desktop clipping file by dragging the text clip onto the input area of the screen
• Pasting from another application simply via the Clipboard
• Direct control from Apple Script
• Dragging a text file onto the Scorpion BarCode finder icon
The Scorpion BarCode software also supports Balloon Help and Apple Guide to simplify the user experience. The Apple Speech Manager provides voice support through the Voice Assistance feature. The entire User Guide is built into the onscreen help.
System Requirements
The Scorpion BarCode software operates on a MacOS™ compatible system ideally running System 8 or later. The software is backward compatible to System 6.08 although System 7.5 or later is recommended for full functionality. The program prefers 400K of available RAM but can operate in lesser RAM if needed. The complete package including documentation requires approximately 800K of hard disk space.

The Scorpion BarCode software is distributed freely for evaluation purposes only. It is not a free or public domain software. If you downloaded the software from the Scorpion Research web site, you would have already completed your registration form. Your registration is valid after you receive an eMail acknowledgement from Scorpion Research which will not be issued until receipt of payment. You have 28 days in which to register your software if you wish to continue to retain it for your evaluation purposes otherwise you must delete it from your computer within the 28 days period. The Purchase Form provided with the software describes prices and purchasing methods. Quick Start
The Scorpion BarCode software is extremely simple to use. The following steps will guide you through the creation of a standard Bar Code:
• Start Scorpion BarCode by double-clicking it
• Go into the Encode menu and choose EAN-13
• You will see a window appear:
• Window appearance will vary depending on System version (MacOS™ 8 window shown)
• Enter text 5001234567890 in the Bar Code Value box as shown above
• Note how the Bar Code is created as you type
• Enter text 12 in the Add-On Bar Code box as shown above
• You can use Cut Copy and Paste under the Edit menu to enter the text
• To place the graphic on the Clipboard, press the Clip button
• To print the graphic, press the Print button
• To save as a PICT file, select Save As PICT… from the File menu
• To save as an EPS file, select Save As EPSF… from the File menu
• To save as a clipping, click on the Bar Code graphic image and drag to the desktop
• You can make typing changes and watch the Bar Code graphic change
• Press the OK button when you are finished
• You can select a different symbology from the Encode menu and repeat
• If you are finished please select Quit from the File menu
